It has become the performance leader in its industry over the last 50 years, thanks to its innovations and problem- solving competency in all areas of pneumatics as well as its unique range of industrial training and vocational education programs.
The objective of the partnership between Festo and the Indo-German Training Centre (IGTC) is to reduce the skill gap between industry expectations (practice) and academic offerings (theory) by direct involvement of industry to attain a synergy. Indian industry, at present, has reached the most crucial turning point, where it has to face the dynamic demands of the competitive domestic and global markets, through the provisions of high quality products and services. To succeed and sustain in this new scenario, the input (training) is most essential for the human resource. As technologies change rapidly, training, retraining and making the students industry-ready is becoming a major challenge today.
Festo has partnered with IGTC since 2014, by participating in the IGTC campus recruitment programme. Each year, Festo inducts a specific number of students from IGTC. We find that the students from IGTC are very practical, not only in terms of technology, but also in terms of approach to business. We involve them on real-time projects, where they learn in an industry environment. Interestingly, we benefit from their creative and unbiased thought process, which contributes to the project deliverables.
